Tic-Tac-Dough dragon
I heard an ad on the radio the other day for IndianaUnclaimed.com, a government website you can check to see if you've got any unclaimed money or property lying around. I shouldn't have expected to find any, since I've only been in Indiana a couple of years, but I was still a little bummed that there wasn't a huge windfall waiting for me. "No matches," it said. Oh well.

But wait, I thought! I have those Google ads that been sitting on my personal website for a year, and the traffic stats indicate that there are a few pages on there that get a lot of hits. Let's see how much ad revenue I've racked up...

Total Earnings..........$0.07

Damn, that was depressing.

But then I heard that President Bush is going to be handing out wads of cash to everybody so as to get the economy all stimulated. This got me to thinking... if I were to get one of these wads, and instead of spending it on booze and hookers like the President wants me to, I put it my savings account or paid down some debt, would I be breaking the End-User License Agreement of the cash wad?

And what if everybody who got a cash wad did that... would the President look at the numbers and say "looks like them cash wads didn't do enough stimulatin'. Better give out some bigger wads!" If so, then maybe I'd use some of my second cash wad to stimulate the economy. Seems only fair.

I suppose. Rational economic behavior may be un-American, but I guess I could just put my flag out a little earlier this year to keep my Patriot Quotient steady.

I think as long as I don't put up a confederate one, I'll be ahead of the curve.

I was thinking that to REALLY stimulate the economy, I'd take a big cash wad and use it to bye a house I can't afford! That way, not only does MY money get spent stimulating the economy, so does the NEXT buyer's money!

It's a double-win, baby!

And if we get bailed out from our poor money management?

TRIPLE WIN!

Oh yeah.

I haven't read the details of his stimulus package yet, but from what I heard, my wife and I will receive $0.

It's funny...we pay taxes and will receive $0, and the Dems want to give rebates to people who pay zero taxes.

It truly is a strange world we live in.

I guess the theory is the people who pay zero taxes are much more likely to do something stimulating with the free cash. Maybe if you wrote in and promised you'd buy a plasma TV or something with it, they'd reconsider.

We would put that money towards the purchase of our new home.

I think Wrangle and company should word it this way:

"We want to take money out of the Social Security fund and give it to people who are in the 0% tax bracket."

His - and the media's - labeling it simply as "payroll tax" hides exactly what payroll taxes are. I'm guessing it wouldn't be very popular to say you are taking money out of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

$0 is about $1200 more than I expect to receive, the negative amount because they'll have to tax us in the future to make up for this current shopping spree. Whee!
24th-Jan-2008 01:22 pm (UTC)
You're optimistic in thinking that it will only cost you $1,200 in the future.
24th-Jan-2008 05:20 pm (UTC)
True. It will probably be more like $3,000. But we can just wait for another administration like this one, and plunder infrastructure funds for $1,800 of it...

Plunder infrastructure funds? Nah. Tax the rich.

Oh, by the way...you're rich.

Woo-hoo! Oh, wait, I mean doh!

We should just tax all the illegal immigrants. I'm confident that will work well and generate lots of revenue.
24th-Jan-2008 08:14 pm (UTC)
I'm confused...I thought the pro-illegal alien contingency said that they are paying taxes...

I think we should opt for the policies outlined by The Beatles. ;-)

"I am the walrus, coo coo che doo"? I'm all for that. ;-)

I was thinking more along the lines of The Taxman. ;-)
